And I see “head, ear, hand” as what I call the three pillars of improvisation practice, and relating to reaction time. So “jazz reacting” is what I call this. And in many ways, improvisation is a process of reacting. And there’s so many ways that we are reacting when we improvise. Jazz is a process of reacting. Any improvisation is a process of reacting.
